Jon Linklater

Biology Tutor

Jon is a passionate teacher and biologist with an aim to connect science to the interests of students and help them flourish in their life and academic goals. Jon believes that a rich understanding of concepts and critical thinking can help students as scientists and in their exams. He has 15 years teaching experience at some of the best schools in the world, in both the UK and internationally. In that time he has taught International Baccalaureate, A Level, GCSE and IGCSE and for 8 of those years was Head of Department. Jon has a thorough knowledge of syllabus and assessment objectives and has developed strategies to maximize exam performance. He uses a range of teaching methods to engage students in their learning, helping them to develop confidence alongside retrieval and specific examination strategies. He has experience in both the UK and international schools of teaching online and the challenges that this entails and has used numerous techniques to make this as engaging as possible, including developing strong relationships with students. In his spare time, Jon enjoys being with his family, exploring nature, travel and sport, including climbing and rugby. Jon began his formal teaching journey in tutoring undergraduates while completing his PhD at University College London. His interest in developing and enthusing scientists and critical thinkers led to a teaching post at North London Collegiate School, UK, before taking up the Head of Department position at Ripon Grammar School, UK. Jon then moved to teach at the British International School, HCMC.
